The Figure in the Interior
A One Day Workshop with David Ryan This workshop is an opportunity to paint the clothed figure in an interior context that resembles our daily experience. Like directors of a film, students will manipulate the setting for the figure by adjusting the light, point of view and still life elements to construct particular meaningful and narrative contexts for the pose. Working on paper or small wood panels in acrylic or oil paint, students create figurative compositions based on direct observation and invention whilst exploring new and traditional directions and techniques. Includes critiques, analysis and discussion. Previous experience with drawing is helpful. Beginners, intermediate and advanced levels are welcome. The Goal. The basis of the workshop is studio work with emphasis on figurative composition, narrative and the study of form, space, light and color. |
